Patcham High pool safety assured
7:00pm Monday 26th November 2012 in News
Patcham High School has reassured the public its pool is safe to use despite being closed to pupils.
The pool was closed to pupils after an outbreak of Legionnaire’s disease in the showers at the Ladies Mile Road building, but it is still open for after-school clubs.
The pool has been inspected and is safe but pupils have been told they cannot use it as they would not be able to use the showers afterwards.
A school spokeswoman said children would have to go back to classes without having washed off the chlorinated water.
But swimming clubs can still use the pool, with users having been informed they have to shower at home.
The school confirmed three clubs use the pool after school hours and all had been fully informed of the situation.
It is hoped it will reopen to pupils in January after work has been carried out to replace piping in the showers.
