First published in News by , Crime reporter

A man has died after being hit by a car in Brighton.

James Patterson, 37, of Rushlake Road, Coldean, Brighton, died on Monday at Hurstwood Park Neurosciences Centre.

Police and emergency services were called to Ditchling Road between the junction of Coldean Lane and Woodborn Avenue at around 5.55pm last Wednesday after reports of a crash.

It is believed that Mr Patterson was crossing the road when he was struck by a 29-year-old Brighton woman, who was driving the Renault Clio.

She was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with minor injuries.

Sergeant Mark Baker from the Roads Policing Unit said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet come forward. Please call 101 quoting Op Cake.”

Would you like to pay tribute to Mr Patterson?

its very sad this chap died, but is a headline "Man, 37, killed after being struck by car in Brighton" appropriate or accurate. I will not be insensitive and expand on this, his family must be suffering enough, I invite the Argus to retract this headline which no doubt will be on hundreds of hoardings at newsagents surely anna you can do better than this.

Coldean Lane doesnt have a junction at Woodbourne Avenue. It was more on Ditchling Road near the junction of Coldean Lane. Poor man. My thoughts are with his family. The Argus should get its facts right for such a story.

A very sad case! I agree with Seven sisters about the incorrect location description. Last week Coldean Lane was referred to as Coldean road. This is not good for a local paper!

I agree. The Argus has been going downhill for a long time now, constantly miss-naming locations, while the price is going up and up! Makes me wonder whether any of it's staff have Knowledge of the local area at all! I have stopped buying it as i don't think it is worth the money anymore.
A poorly published local paper.

It says "called to Ditchling Road between the junction of Coldean Lane and Woodborn Avenue".

Ditchling Road has junctions with Coldean Lane and Woodborn Avenue.

Read the story properly before you make yourselves look like fools.

This story has been edited since it was first published yesterday. It did originally say at the junction with Woodbourne Avenue and Coldean Lane. They first said Coldean Road as well when the story broke last weekend.I'm sure "hammerfan" will back me up if they read this post again.
Get YOUR facts right.

I agree. The printed edition this morning had in fact changed its description. Must have read my comment! Lol. I actually saw the blue flashing lights from my house in Coldean and it was nowhere near Woodbourne Avenue. There is even a Police Notice there now asking for witnesses.
