Sick thugs set fire to kitten Sick thugs set fire to kitten

A kitten was torched on her first trip outside.

Hetty the kitten, who was born in April, was set on fire earlier this month in Bewbush, Crawley, and later died.

On Wednesday night police visited the home of her owner Liam Garrard and vowed to investigate who set fire to silver tabby Hetty who had to be put down after the attack.

Mr Garrard, 22, discovered Hetty covered in burns after she crawled through the cat flap of the home he shares with his parents.

Despite taking her to the vet in Faygate, near Horsham, she could not be saved.

Yesterday heartbroken Mr Garrard said: “I can’t believe anyone would do this.

“Hetty was in so much pain when she was dying.

“There are some sadistic, sick people about.”

Sussex Police and the RSPCA are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

I really hope that the police catch the sadistic evil scum that have done this to this poor little kitten,and give them more than a slap on the wrist! Just makes you want to see them set alight and suffer like they have made Hetty.I just wish I could be left alone with them for 10 mins,they would never do it again!!My thoughts go out to you Mr Garrard.x

As a cat owner this sickens me, these animals have nothing but trust & all the want from us is attention.
The judicial system currently doesnt hand out decent punishments for crimes against animals but why???

I dare you to come round my house and try to set fire to my cats!!!!!

People on here do not often share my view on politics, but I am certain 99 percent of folk will agree with me that the offenders in the case should be horse-whipped to within an inch of their lives and then have their eyes ripped out.

Oh my dear God that is absolutely shocking. I'm sitting here at home at the moment waiting for the vet to ring as one of our dear cats (15 years old) is very poorly and is having an operation at this very moment, so I'm more vulnerable than usual to animal cruelty stories.

Like 'Algeria' above there is no physical punishment that I would not inflict on the perpetrators if I could lay my hands on them.

There really is some disgusting scum on this earth.

I believe hurting an animal is worse that hurting a human. In most cases, a human can speak out or defend themselves. What can an animal do? By nature, they trust us to look after them. They can't fight back, they can't call for help, the can't ask for justice......

I would like just 5 minutes in a room with these people. See how big they are when it's person their own size.

Call me a bit repetitive but I think there is ample justification here for setting the disgusting, pathetic-excuse-for-
a-human-being, low-life culprit's face on fire and putting it out with a cricket bat.

The trouble is Crystal the maximum will probably amout to a small fine & ban from keeping animals even though it wasn't their pet??!!!

This needs to change as it's a cruel heart that can commit such an offence & perhaps a insight into what the individual is capable of doing.

Surely even a small custodial sentance for abuse of animals should be the manditory punishment I hate this small fine nonsense as if they are unemployed, under working age etc then the fine will be £2 a week until paid pathetic justice!

I would love to set fire to the evil people that did this and watch them crawl home for 2 days.

The thought of the fear that poor little kitten must heave felt sickens me to the point of tears.

Give me 5 minutes with them.....

If only we had a legal system that had some guts and was able to deal with sub life like this. I'm sure a slippery lawyer squandering tax payer's money will get them off - it would be refreshing to see a real punishment that might prevent such a disgustingly shocking occurence ever happening again. There is an epetition calling for the gov to change the law regarding this sort of thing " Animal Cruelty Improved legislation" and it's by Ellie Chandler-Brown

Such a truly sadistic act of cruelty and the people responsible need to be promptly caught and punished. I am sure I have read that the owners of the kitten need help paying the huge vets bills.

I'm sure if it had been your pet,then you would be thinking like everyone else on here,and want to go out and catch the b.....ds that did this! Who said anything about "cure"? Not interested in curing anyone personally. The person who committed this unspeakable act isn't suffering with some illness, and I won't use the word "evil" either because that has religious connotations and implies some external evil force had a hand in this. This was done by some irredeemable sociopath who has no conscience and gets off on inflicting torture and death. I'm afraid there is NO cure for that - it's who they are. Put them down.
