A motorist is fighting for his life after his vehicle smashed into a tree.
Emergency services were called to B2116 Albourne Road in Woodmancote, near Henfield, at about 11.40pm last night when a blue Renault Megane left the road.
Police said two men stopped by the roadside to help before officers arrived.
Fire crews cut the 61-year-old man from West Chiltington, near Storrington, free from the vehicle.
He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious life threatening injuries.
