Sussex resembled a winter wonderland this morning as residents woke to discover the first severe frost of the winter.

Argus chief photographer, Simon Dack, was out first thing to take these shots of a frozen Hollingbury.

Steam can be seen coming from Carden School against a backdrop of frost covered roofs.

Meanwhile a lone walker is wrapped up for a bracing early morning stroll.

The Argus thermometer recorded minus 2c at 7am with temperatures set to reach a maximum of 5c later on.

This is hardly the first frost of the season- at least two severe frosts in October and November, possibly three.

There's a house at the lower right in the third photo that clearly needs some insulation - all the other roofs have some frost on them.
