Online gambling addict is jailed
8:40am Thursday 6th December 2012 in News
A gambling addict has been jailed for three years after breaking a court order which banned him from playing computer games.
Alastair Peckover, known as William Peckover, appeared at Brighton Crown Court after admitting breaching his Serious Crime Prevention Order (SCPO).
The 23-year-old, of Sheppey Close, Broadfield, Crawley, also admitted two offences of obtaining unauthorised access to computers and two offences of dishonestly making false representation.
His SCPO – the first of such to be given in Sussex – was renewed and the court ordered the destruction of the hard drive from his computer.
Peckover has been convicted three times for internet-based hacking frauds against online betting companies, and has also defrauded individuals.
In July this year he was served with the SCPO lasting five years and ordered to pay back £47,000 of criminal profits within the following six months.
He was arrested in October and charged with breaching his SCPO with the two offences of computer misuse.
