A man is fighting for his life after a serious car crash.

The 57-year-old man from Crowborough is in a critical condition in a London hospital following a crash on the B2100 Crowborough Hill in Crowborough at just after 5.45pm on Thursday.

The man was hit by a burgundy-coloured Ford Fiesta driven by a 52-year-old Crowborough woman who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and bailed until February 7.

Sussex road policing officers are investigating the incident and have issued an appeal to find the driver of a silver car travelling west who stopped to allow the pedestrian to cross shortly before the accident.
