This group of university students are proving to be a bright bunch.
Product Design pupils at the University of Brighton have been developing ideas on self-illuminating fabric that people can use on the road.
The Inverto team – Adam Hargrave, Barnee Lloyd, Danny Hughes and Raul Jimenez – won a design competition held by global safety company FHOSS.
They designed a reversible reflective jacket which can switch to pedestrian or cycling mode. It also has light strips running along the arms to use as indicators.
The lights are powered by a rechargeable battery cell and there is a control panel which can be linked to an iPhone or Bluetooth, meaning users can operate the iPhone’s Siri service through the jacket.
Student Adam Hargrave said: “The jacket was a collaborative effort by all members of the team and it’s brilliant that we won.”
