University cancels film screening

First published in News

The University of Brighton has cancelled the screening of a controversial film following a student backlash.

The documentary House of Numbers has been dismissed by academics and health experts worldwide as AIDS denialist propaganda.

The film, which claims the HIV virus does not cause AIDS, was due to be shown tomorrow (December 12).

However, following a backlash from students and health groups, the university has cancelled the screening.

A spokesman said: “The screening of this film was organised by an individual member of university staff who has no academic or professional expertise in health sciences.

“Our position is clear: We regard HIV and AIDS as extremely serious matters of concern; we provide our students with advice and we support research concerning these issues.”

So students protest at an alternative view and opinion? Not very conducive to objective learning.

Who knows if its quackery. People should be allowed to see the film so they can make up their own minds. It's a fact that HIV drugs are netting millions for drugs companies and many HIV studies were funded by drugs companies. No wonder they keep finding that more and more should be on the drugs, more and more have the virus and then they tell us that treatment is prevention. Something's not quite right.

Well if any of you hasn't seen this documentary yet I suggest you watch it now. You can find it here:

If you prefer to read rather than to watch a documentary I'd suggest starting here:

Congratulations to Dr Cox; the rest of the so-called 'University' doesn't deserve to be referred to as such given how keen it seems to be to silence debate.

Pathetic! You all have blood on your hands! Do you hear?

I have just watched the first 10 minutes of this film and can see no reason why it should have been banned. The university and students seem to burying their heads in the sand.

The medical profession can prove its claims about HIV/AIDS beyond reasonable doubt. The quacks that claim AIDS doesn't exist are utterly deluded. What they say is utter nonsense. They are some of the freakiest people, they stalk the internet for stories like this to try and convert people to their bizarre cult.

The list of dead AIDS deniers is growing much faster than the people with HIV who accept treatment advised by evidence based medicine.

There is no middle ground here, these people are out and out wrong.
