A husband has died just weeks after being questioned by police over the death of his wife.
Fred Saunders, of Court Farm Road in Hove, died from natural causes in the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton on Monday following a long illness.
The 85-year-old was arrested on Thursday November 29 after police and paramedics discovered the body of his 71-year-old wife Mary Saunders in their bedroom.
After being questioned by police in hospital, he was formally released from arrest on Friday November 30 but interviewed under caution the following day.
A post-mortem on the body of Mrs Saunders took place in Brighton the day after she was discovered but did not establish a cause of death although no natural cause could be found.
Further forensic tests are taking place and are expected to take up to six weeks.
Inquests on the deaths of both Mr and Mrs Saunders will be formally opened and adjourned at Brighton Coroners Court tomorrow morning.
