Santa will be making an appearance in shops, restaurants, offices and on the street throughout the day on Friday, December 14.

Hundreds of people are being urged to sign up for the annual Wear a Santa Suit for the Day in aid of St Barnabas House Hospice in Worthing.

The 2011 event raised more than £8,000 for the hospice and the charity is hoping to beat that amount this year.

Southern Water has already confirmed that 110 Santas will be taking part at its offices in Yeoman Road, beating last year’s biggest group of 44 Santas at Northbrook College.

Other participants include Blackbelt Leaders Martial Arts Group in Worthing and More Than Clearance Ltd in Angmering.

Wear a Santa Suit Day officially takes place on Friday, although people can choose to wear their suit on a different day if they want to.

Santa pride

Registration costs £10 and those signing up will be given a Santa suit, complete with belt, hat and beard.

Hospice community fundraiser Neil Francis said: “Wear a Santa Suit Day is such a simple way to support the hospice and have lots of fun at Christmas time.

“We would really like to break the £10,000 barrier so are hoping that lots of people will take part and wear their Santa suits with pride in 2012.”
