A WOMAN was last night released without charge after her husband suffered a stab wound to his back.

Police arrested the 48-year-old following the incident involving her 57-year-old husband.

He suffered the injury in the smart detached home the couple shared in Seaford at 11pm on Saturday.
The woman was arrested that night and taken into custody but late yesterday evening Sussex Police released her without charge.

A spokesman said: “A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, following a stabbing incident at a Seaford home.

“The 48-year-old woman was arrested after police were called by the ambulance service to the address in Firle Close, Seaford. A 57-year-old man was taken from the address to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with a stab wound to the back.

"His condition is currently assessed as serious but stable and not life-threatening. The woman was not injured.

“On Sunday evening the woman was formally released from police custody for the time being, but was taken to secure hospital accommodation for assessment over the coming weeks.”

Police guarded outside the detached home overnight on Saturday.

One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: “They are a nice family. I’ve lived here for 20 years and I think they have been here longer.

“They used to have parties in the green where neighbours would talk to each other.

“They have two young children and always wave hello.”
