A local heritage group planted the seeds for a greener city after being awarded funding.
Hove Civic Society accepted £2,500 from Brighton and Hove City Council for a tree planting project in Montpelier Place.
Mayor of Brighton and Hove Bill Randall was on hand with a spade to help the society plant one of the elm trees.
The group aims to maintain the upkeep of the city by encouraging high standards of architecture, town planning and conservation of buildings with historical interest.
