Plan to build 50 homes in West Sussex
6:00pm Tuesday 1st January 2013 in News
One of the country’s biggest property developers is planning to build more than 50 homes on scrubland.
Barratt Homes is proposing to build 56 two, three and four-bedroom homes at the site of the former Brooks Nursery in Barnham Road, Eastergate near Fontwell.
The developers say the land was formerly part of the adjoining nursery but is now lying fallow with much of the site overrun by scrub.
The proposed site, which is located between the villages of Eastergate and Barnham, will have 16 affordable homes and 154 parking spaces including 12 unallocated visitor spaces.

If I lived in the area I would be concerned about ''The affordable homes'', they always attract trouble.

I thought it was austerity Britain but almost three parking places per house would indicate otherwise. No wonder the houses need to be affordable if people are running three cars.

Affordable can mean shared ownership, or rental, not just social or ‘council’ housing. Statistically, rental social housing for those on a low income can generate more anti-social behaviour, but good housing layouts and designs help reduce this. As does good parenting. However, education is free in this country, even spelling lessons. As is the use of F7.
