It is always a shame to not be able to find a convenient place to park near home when you want it, however these people are only affected for perhaps 4 hours a week, ok occasionally perhaps 8 hours. I hope that they don't have the cheek to complain about parking in other areas of the city!

HJarrs, if you visit Coldean/Moulsecoomb during match days, sadly some parkers use pavements, double park, park on grass verges, block roads, driveways etc.
The council spent a great deal of money trying to prevent this by installing wooden posts around greens but still insistent parkers would try and park.
The council also paid to remove green spaces along Coldean Lane which meant people would take that as a green light to park on the pavements where the greens had been removed. Cars would also be parked up in Wild Park when the travellers weren't around.
Whenever a public attraction is created, it generates parking. It would be the same if the Amex were a cinema, ice rink etc. People will park if they can and stopping it in one area just moves it on and this was also seen with the increase in parking charges. Since they were increased, we now have vans, buses, trucks, camper vans and cars from across the city parking in our street and for the first time in more than 20 years, we now have double parking in our community and this happened overnight. What was a quiet residential street with kiddies playing football and on scooters is now a haven for long-term and illegal parking.
I have a friend who runs a building company who admits they now take their kit into town and then dump their trucks in residential 'free' areas sometimes for days on end until a job is done because of the new charges for traders and general parking fees.
There is a lack of cohesive transport strategy in this city which is killing trade and killing communities.

How I look forward to the complaints of local residents when THEY get a ticket !
