Demolition work at Kings Road Arches in Brighton are estimated to take a least a year Demolition work at Kings Road Arches in Brighton are estimated to take a least a year

Diggers have been getting down and dirty as they start work on a major renovation project.

Two months into the project to replace the 120-year-old Kings Road Arches in Brighton, construction workers are making headway into the seafront project.

The work to rebuild, strengthen and refurbish the historic arches which began on Monday, November 5, and is estimated to last for the best part of a year.

During the project the upper promenade will be closed to all public access between Alfresco’s restaurant and the West Pier.

New road crossings for pedestrians and cyclists are being provided including an alternative short diversion via the new signalled crossing by the Regency Square car park.

Expect the incompetent Green council to completely bugg*er this up; they'll be working on this 5 years from now if (God help us all) the Greens are still in power.

Refurbish? I might be wrong, but it looks to me like they have been demolished.

Talk about a stuck record. Can you explain why you think they're incompetent?

Or is this just the usual Green-bashing rhetoric where you think that the Tories or Labour party would go about this construction any differently?

Phew. Saw the headline and thought it said "dogging...". Wasn't surprised at the time but relieved it's not the case, yet.

Yeah, I was thinking that! That looks like my cack-handed attempts at 'refurbishment'; nothing original left!

And I don't often agree with 'Ferci Sakes' but he/she is spot on this time - how on earth can any problems with this be blamed on the Greens?

1) £160,000 spent on charging points for electric cars.

2) Letters written to Halfods DEMANDING that they stop selling pink bikes for boys and blue bikes for boys (must be gender-neutral).

3) Thousands of pounds spent on the consultation on how to stop people smoking in cars.

4) Thousands of pounds spent on consultation re: changing the name of Jew Street (SO non-PC!) to 'Celebrating Diversity Street'

Meanwhile, Brigton has highest rate of homelessness, drug deaths, child and pensioner poverty in the South-East
(outside London)

Lets all work together to remove the Green Party from office!

It's already been in place for a couple of months. I go past every day and haven't seen any congestion or traffic chaos (or at least no more than there normally is!)
