Christmas is well and truly over for another year – as this picture of a forest of unwanted trees shows.
Dozens of spruces and firs have been dropped off by householders at more than 20 recycling points set up by Brighton and Hove City Council.
The local authority said every tree collected will be turned into soil improver or compost, which prevents more waste going to landfill.
The Christmas tree recycling sites will be open until January 23.
Exact numbers dropped off will not be known until after that date.
But a council spokeswoman said: “One reason there looks to be a lot of trees at the recycling points could be because 12th night fell at a weekend so a lot of people did their recycling then and a large contingent of trees were deposited all in one go rather than at staggered periods.”
