A campaign group has appointed special “street reps” to help save a cherished church hall.
The Hall Get Involved (THGI) is aiming to raise £200,000 to purchase the 128-year-old Exeter Street Hall, which is currently owned by St Luke’s Church.
With two weeks to go of the community share issue, the group has more than 650 shareholders and has raised £137,000.
As part of the final push to the January 31 deadline, the campaign has equipped every street in the Prestonville area with its own street representative.
Paul Winter, the chair of THGI said: “Street reps give you a point of contact in your street that you can trust – a neighbour, who has details of what we are trying to achieve.
“We want as many investors as possible and therefore it’s important you understand that this facility of the future will be for everyone; children of all ages, the older and more vulnerable, and people with or without families.”
