UPDATED: Commuters faced delays after London Victoria train fire

Commuters faced delays of up to 50 minutes after a train fire in London Victoria station.

The hub was evacuated at about 7am this morning with trains unable to run to and from the station after the incident.

Network Rail confirmed the fire, which was in a train depot, was extinguished shortly after but services were halted until the smoke cleared.

Trains began running again at about 8am.

A spokesman for Network Rail said disruption was cleared at about 11am.

The incident affected the majority of commuters on the Brighton to London mainline, as well as passengers on other Sussex lines.

Southern passengers were advised to use Southeastern services between London Bridge and London Charing Cross; South West Trains between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo; and First Capital Connect between East Croydon and London Bridge.
