Drunken woman given ASBO banning her from boozing
11:12am Saturday 19th January 2013 in News By Anna Roberts, Crime reporter
ASBO: Amy Winter
A woman has been given an ASBO for being drunk in public on repeated occasions - including 12 times last summer.
Amy Winter, 33, of no fixed abode, was convicted at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, December 16, of assaulting a constable.
She has not been given a post-conviction ASBO.
The court was told Winter was abusive to members of the public and was often heard screaming and shouting in the middle of night.
PC Dave Newman said: "Miss Winter's ASBO is a great result and one we hope that will encourage her to stop offending in this manner.
"The police were called to her former address dozens of times and she has had a huge impact on the community due to her alcohol-fuelled behaviour, not only in Seaford but also at her previous address in Newhaven.
"I hope this reassures the public that we do take anti-social behaviour seriously and will take positive action against offenders such as Miss Winter."
As part of her conditions, Miss Winter is not allowed to drink alcohol in a public place or be drunk in a public place.

It's just words.
And this is exactly the double standards that I have levelled at Sussex Police for treating students and local people differently.
If this woman were a student coming in drunk every night playing up and making mayhem as my neighbours and I have endured some years, Sussex Police do absolutely nothing and pass the case to the council's environmental health team to deal with the noise generated by anti-social behaviour.
Well now I have this case on record Sussex Police, if we have any similar issues with students, we will be seeking a similar outcome instead of you passing the buck because you can't be bothered and students have a different set of laws than local people.

It is also probably a great example of "care in the community", a totally useless approach which fails to help these unfortunates at all.

Goodness me.
What a poster campaign for not being a drunken sot.
