Six puppies abandoned over Christmas have started the new year with new homes.

The lurcher puppies were dumped in a box in Lancing over Christmas.

But thanks to the work of Grove Lodge Vets, and a generous donation by veterinary pharmaceutical company Virbac, which donated thousands of pounds worth of lifesaving treatment, the dogs are now all in foster homes across the south east.

As well as receiving generous donations from the public, Grove Lodge Vets thanked Worthing and Adur Councils, who agreed to foot a large proportion of the outstanding bill for the around-the-clock intensive care of the pups at their 24-hour veterinary hospital in Worthing.

Marc Abraham, a vet at Grove Lodge Southwick, said: “We are thrilled to hear how well these puppies are doing now, as an enormous amount of dedication by the emergency team was involved in ensuring they recovered from their ordeal.

“It would be hard for anyone not to fall in love with these little guys.

“We would urge everyone to have their dogs vaccinated to avoid them contracting the deadly parvovirus. If you’re considering rehoming one of these gorgeous dudes, think carefully about your lifestyle. With the dreadful start they had, it’s vital to understand the ongoing commitment needed to ensure they are fully socialised and trained.” For more information call the vets on 01273 596201.
