Crews tackle fire at restaurant

Dozens of firefighters spent more than three hours tackling a fire that broke out at an Italian restaurant.

Crews were called to Pinocchio's in New Road, Brighton, just before 7pm last night.

The restaurant was evacuated as ten fire engines and the aerial ladder platform were called to the scene.

A spokesman for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the back of the building had been badly damaged and the fire had spread through the ducts in the walls.

Crews returned to inspect the scene this morning.

The fire is believed to have started accidentally.

For those missing their fantastic Italian meals.... may I suggest that Casalingo Restaurant in Preston Street, Brighton will NEVER disappoint you for atmosphere, friendliness, helpfulness, value and most importantly - EXTREMELY EXCELLENT FOOD!

It is halfway-down Preston Street.

Ah, Preston Street - once the road of a hundred restaurants: now Skidrow-on- Sea's most dilapidated swill bucket.
Rita, if your grotty caff is so successful, why don't you rely on word-of-mouth or even pay for an advert, instead of piggy-backing on another business's misfortune?

I suggest that you try it then Roundbill, you won't be disappointed.

And why should a very long-term satisfied customer pay for an advert for their favourite restaurant?

Um, it's "Bill", not "Hill" - and I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that I'm under the influence, merely on the basis that I pointed out what a god-awful sh!thole Preston Street has become over the past decade.
Are you stoned?

I agree with Roundbill!!! Why write a comment about your favourite "ITALIAN" after the fire at Pinocchio,s restuarant???
Surely it would be better to say how sorry it is that a business that has been in Brighton for years has now been destroyed!!!
As Roundbill states Preston street is a dump compared to New road!!!!

Agreed as well. Definitely not the time or place to be trying to plug a restaurant regardless if you own it or you are a patron.

I had the misfortune of going to a birthday do at Casalingo's last year and had a terrible upset stomach for my troubles.. rude staff and cold greasy food.. horrible place!
I hope Pinnocchio's wasn't too badly damaged and is up and trading again soon!
