With idiots like those above it's no wonder why car insurance is less expensive for women.

Men are more than twice as likely to die in a car crash than women. In fact, studies have shoiwn as many as 73 percent of all people killed in car accidents are male.

The victims of car crashes is not the same as the drivers of cars that crash Hovite.

Having said that, I don't think that gender has that much to do with the way a person drives. They either are considerate drivers who pay due attention to conditions around the, or they are not. And even the best driver can have an inattentive moment and that is all it takes sometimes.

actually this is not true - as of 21 Dec 2012 it is illegal for insurers to discriminate between men and women drivers.

I agree, but women are more likely to have minor crashes, whereas men are more likely to have high speed crashes.

Men are more likely to have road rage and show aggresive behaviour and showing off. There have been lots of fatal crashes involving young men showing off and killing their female passengers or people in other cars. There was an accident on the seafront a few years back when someone killed two sisters. He survived.

Personally I drive on the road with the mind set of everyones a bad driver and I make sure I am in a safe bubble of space. I don't know which driver has just passed there test, which one is not familier with the road and which one is an idiot.

I think it probably has a lot more to do with the type of journeys then the gender ... as far as the driving is concerned anyway.

mimseycal, yep you are right about the journey type, shorter journeys etc.

Anyway I was just respnding to the women drivers comment. Both can be as bad as each other and also for different reasons.

Male or female is irrelevant - to crash a car into a building on a straight bit of road, is jolly embarrassing and potentially careless driving.
That said, how do we know it wasn't mechanical failure ( say tyre blowout ) ?

Don't understand how someone can lose control of a vehicle on a big wide straight road with a 30 limit and crash into a building.
That's not good and I wouldn't want to be anywhere near someone who's skill behind the wheel leaves that much to be desired.

And of course there is a massive amount more of male drivers on the road compared to women drivers.

I do agree though, how the hell do you lose control on a straight road? Maybe the '2am' reference sort of gives the game away. Looking forward to the full story tomorrow
