Brighton orchard is rescheduled

The planting of a new community orchard by green-fingered volunteers has been rescheduled.

Snow and cold weather saw the plans for the site at the top of Brighton’s Race Hill last Saturday postponed.

The event will now take place today (January 26) at 1pm, with 30 trees planted on part of a three acre site between Swanborough Drive and Wilson Avenue.

Once complete, it is expected to produce 20 tonnes of free fruit for residents.

The first crops are expected to be ready to harvest within two to three years.

The Racehill is not where the Argus say, It has always been at the top of Elm Grove I am sure the Orchard would be best described as being at the top of Wilson Avenue on the left hand side going up.
