Sussex rivers on flood alert
7:22am Monday 28th January 2013 in News
Heavy rain is swelling several of the county’s rivers.
The Environment Agency have put out a flood warning for the River Rother at Fittleworth near Pulborough and have also issued flood alerts for the Upper Ouse around Barcombe, the Upper River Mole around Crawley and the Cuckmere between Vines Cross to Exceat Bridge.
The Government agency warned that a combination of water moving down the Western Rother and high flows on the Arun are holding up the river levels at Fittleworth and that flood warnings would remain in place for most of the week.
A flood warning indicates that flooding is expected and immediate action required while a flood alert means flooding is possible and residents should be prepared.
