Henfield care home residents rescued during fire drama

Care home staff and residents have been hospitalised after a fire broke out.

Firefighters rescued three residents from Upper Mead care home in Fabians Way, Henfield after fire broke out from a light fitting on the first floor of the two storey home.

Seven staff and residents in total were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation after the fire broke out at 3am this morning.

Crews from Henfield, Partridge Green, Hurstpierpoint and Steyning all attended the blaze with the last firefighters leaving the scene at 6am.

Would appear more smoke alarms are needed in this and maybe other care homes if staff and residents are being hospitalised by smoke inhalation.

For the money paid each week in care home fees this should not happen - there should be no expense spared in caring for people but this shows the owners of these homes are only in it to make as much profit as possible. Disgusting.
