The Horrors of the Holocaust were remembered in a special memorial service.

Millions of people died as communities were destroyed by mass persecution during World War Two.

To mark the international memorial day, dozens of dignitaries attended a service at the Jewish Cemetery in Meadowview, Brighton, yesterday.

It was led by Rabbi Hershel Rader, of the Brighton and Hove Hebrew Congregation, on behalf of the Association of Jewish Ex Servicemen.

It was one of a number of events happening in the city to remember the victims.

On Wednesday, Auschwitz survivor Zigi Shipper will talk about her experiences at Sussex University’s Jubilee Building Lecture Theatre from 1.30pm and 6pm.
