Daniel Boyle: jailed for six years
Thug Daniel Boyle has been jailed for six years for seriously injuring a man in a club attack.
The 21-year-old, of Hudson Close, Worthing, pleaded guilty at Hove Crown Court to causing grievous bodily harm to his victim on April 7, 2012, in Misty's wine bar in Church Road, Hove.
He also admitted a charge of possessing cocaine.
The court heard that Boyle approached his 30-year-old victim who was with friends in the bar. When the man made a comment to his friends, Boyle smashed a pint glass into his face causing a serious injury to his left eye and other wounds to his face, for which he had to undergo surgery.
When he was arrested, Boyle was found to be in possession of a bag of cocaine.
After the case, Detective Constable Scott Moore said: "This was an unprovoked attack with a glass. Luckily not the victim has not lost his sight but has had his vision affected and is still undergoing checks at the eye hospital."

Thugs like this. Unprovoked events like this make me glad I left the UK years ago and moved to a civilized country where I can have a drink in a wine bar without having to fear for my safety, or that of my friends.
I may live in a country with more murders than anywhere else, more guns than anywhere else, and more violent criminals in jail than anywhere else...but I still feel safe (without having to carry any weapon of any kind)...
This type of incident is all too common, knife culture is all too common, people getting wasted and looking for trouble way way too common...
No end in sight...sorry to say. I love Brighton, and always try and speak well of it, and have fond memories of growing up there, without fear.
Very sad

It is well known that Mistys is a notorious venue for drugs and drug dealing. The police should hold a raid and have that hell-hole closed down sooner rather than later
