Badger rescued from disused Hailsham swimming pool

An injured badger has had a lucky escape after being rescued from a disused swimming pool.

The East Sussex Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS) was called out on Friday (Feb 1) after the critter was discovered at a house in Hailsham.

WRAS boss, Trevor Weeks MBE, found the badger curled up in a muddy corner of an old pool and decided to take it in for observation.

Along with colleagues, he used a dog grasper and cage to catch the animal before taking it to their Whitesmith centre.

Mr Weeks, said: “The badger is in one of our large double hospital cages where he is being made nice and warm and comfortable.

“We will observe him for the next 24 to 48 hours and if suitable he will be released back in the garden where found.

“But I will give him a talking to and ensure he doesn’t do this again.”

Once again Trevor Weeks and the WRAS to the rescue. Well done and thank you for assisting with animals in need.
