Southern Water boss open to questions following price hike (From The Argus)

Dear Mr Loader
Are you seriously intending to rattle off the same lame excuses used generally by privatised, dysfunctional, bonus culture utility companies?
'It's needed for investment and upgrading infrastructure' has been chortled all the way to the bank for so many years.
Can't we pay the increase to get an industry regulator that does more than hand out tiny fines that are paid by the taxpayer anyway?

Dear southern water. I would like to express my absolute disgust at this rise. My last water bill before my new water meter affected and reduced the bill was over £300 for a 2 bed flat and it has increased each year. Where are the benefits ? I still can turn the tap on and it works and he water still drains away. So where is my benefit ? And since where I live I pay for fresh water separately its quite an obscene sim of money to drain your water. So given your massive profits and inevitably happy shareholders how can you justify massive increases? Why are you not investing in desalination plants ? Stopping water leaks more? Be honest to us and tell us you must grow profits as you have shareholders and are a private company. Don't make us look idiots again. I shall be reviewing my payments with you as you quite happily have overcharged me and my account is in credit. Take heed there are some hard up very annoyed customers like me that are sick and tired of obvious profiteering.
