A fire is spreading across terrace housing in a Crawley street.

The blaze began at about 4pm in Ashdown Drive in Tilgate.

It began in a first floor bedroom but spread to the roof.

The fire then caught the roofs of neighbouring properties in the terrace row.

It is believed there are currently four properties affected.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue currently has six pumps at the scene but no people are believed to be inside the buildings.

An aerial ladder platform is on its way to the site.

Ashdown Drive has been closed while the fire crews tackle the inferno.

Where is the aerial ladder coming from?
If it had been closer at say 4:05pm would three other families not now be looking at burning homes.........
