Blockbuster to close stores in Hove and Burgess Hill

Three more Sussex stores will shut their doors for good.
Administrators have confirmed that Blockbuster outlets in Hove, Burgess Hill and Chichester are among 164 to be shuttered in the latest round of closures.
Branches in Peacehaven, Hastings and Shoreham have already announced that they are closing down.
Stores in Worthing, Haywards Heath, Uckfield, Littlehampton and Crawley remain open for business while a buyer is sought.
Deloitte said there will be a closing down promotions across the stores.
A spokesman for the administrator said: “Staff in the stores affected by the closures will be facing redundancy. A dedicated employee helpline is in place and the company is running an employee assistance programme to help those staff facing redundancy find other jobs.”
Lee Manning, joint administrator, said: “We have continued to review the performance of individual stores since our appointment a month ago and have concluded that further closures are necessary in order to restructure the Company for sale.
"We would like to thank the Company’s employees for their support and professionalism during this difficult time and we are also grateful for the continued support of customers.
"We are in discussions with a number of parties interested in purchasing all or parts of the business and will update on progress in due course.”

Just been into Worthing Blockbusters and they are one of the stores that will close. They will not close immediately but they are one of the 164 to be closed.
Security word: Public doing a better job than paid reporters.

It's the way so much is going now. Unfortnuately, in 2013 as has been for a few years now, you don't go down you local video shop to watch a film, you go online to rent it or stream and also piracy has affected their situation too. I also thought the blockbuster membership card and associated costs were very out dated. It's a shame, but invevitable for a firm that just hasnt moved with the times.
