Brighton's lifeboat crews were called out this morning (Feb 15) after a suspected dinghy was spotted drifting out to sea.
It was spotted by the National Coatwatch Institute teams in Shoreham at about 10am.
But when lifeboat crews got to the object floating about a mile south of Hove, they found it was just a bit of debris.
It was fished from the water and safely disposed of.
