A teenager raped on Brighton seafront relived her ordeal on Crimewatch last night as police continue to hunt for the perpetrator.

The 19-year-old holidaymaker was attacked in the early hours of September 7, 2012.

She said two men grabbed and raped her while a third watched during the terrifying incident between the Coalition nightclub and Regency Square.

The attack took place between midnight and 2.30am as the woman from Kent made her way back to her hotel alone.

Last night she relived the horrific moment she was attacked on the beach.

She said: “I just remember being pushed from where I was standing. I don’t know how I got there but I was on the seafront.

“And then the attack happened and I just remember screaming and crying, didn’t really know what to do.

“The first couple of months or so I wouldn’t leave the house at all, I wouldn’t walk anywhere on my own, I wouldn’t go to the toilet on my own, I wouldn’t do anything.

“I’m just not like a nineteen year old anymore. I just feel like a baby again, like I rely on everyone.”

At the time, Detective Sergeant Graham Lewendon said: “This was an extremely serious attack – at the most serious end of the scale.

“She had no contact with the men prior to the attack. Without words or conversation they dragged her on to the beach and raped her.”

Last night Detective Inspector Ian Still from Brighton and Hove CID made a live appeal for anyone who recognised a man captured on CCTV to contact police.

He was seen entering a Brighton nightclub at about 10.30pm on September 6.

A short time later the same man is seen walking north up West Street towards the Clock Tower where he disappears into Duke Street.

DI Still said: “We are turning to the national audience to help identify the man featured in the CCTV who was close to the area of the attack and within about 20 minutes of it taking place.

"We need to talk to him in order to eliminate him from our enquiries.”

Anyone with information should call Sussex Police on 101 quoting Operation Harvard or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
