Adrian braves The Shard to propose
A plucky lovebird overcame his fear of heights to propose to the woman of his dreams.
Brave Adrian Davis travelled 800 feet above London to pop the question to his girlfriend Nic MacDonald on Valentine’s Day.
The 40-year-old from Polegate got down on one knee on the observation deck of The Shard, the capital’s newest skyscraper.
And he said he felt on top of the world when his beaming bride-to-be said yes.
Mr Davis said: “I don’t know what I was more scared of – climbing the Shard or Nic saying no. It was terrifying.
“I absolutely hate heights but I guess I just wanted to show Nic that I would do anything for her.
Overwhelmed
“She never thought I’d go up there in a million years so it was certainly a surprise. I’m just glad it all turned out so well.”
The couple, who are both civil servants and met in Hastings, started going out on Valentine’s Day a year ago.
Now Mr Davis is proudly sporting a sparkling engagement ring – as well as his splendid moustache.
Ms MacDonald’s ring is made from a silver spoon crafted exactly 100 years before her birthday.
She said: “Adrian is terrified of heights so I was sure he would never go up The Shard, even though I really wanted to. So when he said we were going up there I couldn’t believe it.
“I just thought it was a Valentine’s surprise.
“But when we got up there he went right up to the window, which was even more surprising. Then he got down on one knee and I was completely overwhelmed.”
The happy couple plan to get married next year.

Can't say I approve but good luck to them and I really admire their honesty.
People with heterosexual tendencies have almost nothing to be ashamed of, nowadays.

Marriage between a man and a woman. Goodness me. Whatever next? I thought Cameron's new law meant you had to be gay to tie the knot.
