Man charged with murder at Brighton magistrates

A man has appeared in court accused of murdering his wife.
Ty Medland, 25, was in a wheelchair when he appeared in court five of Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (February 20).
His case was finished by 10.10am and was adjourned until tomorrow (February 21) when he is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court.
Medland, of Cavell Avenue, Peacehaven, did not enter a plea to one count of murder.
He is charged with murdering his wife Samantha, known as Sam, who died on Sunday, February 17.
She was attacked with a knife in Queen Square, Brighton, at 8.45pm on Sunday.
A post-mortem found she died of multiple stab wounds.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston said: "I would like to thank the members of public who have assisted us in our investigation so far.
"Our thoughts are with the family of Sam as they try to come to terms with her death."
Mrs Medland’s mother, Amelia, issued a second tribute to her daughter yesterday.
She said: “Her untimely death has touched so many people, including the medical staff who tried to save her life.
"Sam leaves behind mum, dad, her sisters Teresa and Lisa Jo Saphirre and her brother Ali and so many friends. She also leaves her niece Rosalie-Jayne and nephew Tyler-Jay.
"She will be greatly missed by us all.”
