More misery for commuters as crash causes huge tailbacks on A27

Jaws of life free car occupants in crash on A27 at Alciston Jaws of life free car occupants in crash on A27 at Alciston

Commuters faced a second day of misery as a crash left huge tailbacks on the A27 this evening.

The four vehicle pile-up near Middle Farm happened at about 4.50pm.

Two people had to be cut free by firefighters from a Ford Fiesta involved in the incident.

Police closed the road in both directions while the jaws of life were used, resulting in major delays for the second day running along that stretch of highway.

Just yesterday a collision saw queues of 15 minutes, combined with other delays in the county.

This evening motorists were queuing for more than 40 minutes with 10 miles of traffic while other roads such as the A22 were also affected.

South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed two people were taken to hospital with neck and lower back injuries following the accident.

Another two were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road has since been reopened but there are still large queues in both directions as people try to make their way home.

Yes, I was affected and as a consequence sat in a queue of traffic for a considerable period of time.

The road is not to blame, it's idiotic driving/drivers.
Impatience, tail-gating, late exit from side-roads, deficient headlights/tail-ligh
ts..and so on.
I am quite happy to travel safely at 50/60/70 mph where road conditions permit but wonder why so many drive with pedal-to-the-metal with no regard to time of day or weather.

everybody stuck in the traffic jam caused by this accident should sue the driver of the crashed car for lost time. vertually all accidents on this stretch of road are caused by driver error, although in fairness it is not always the driver who crashes who is at fault.
I can see that dash cams so favoured in russia becoming popular here.
