Why 'notorious'? Only in the Argus' eyes since you keep going on about it.

Hope the Biker is OK.

All I can say about the "notorious" comment is that I have lived in Hove for 32 years and regularly drive through this junction, and have never seen an accident.
My experience is of witnessing numerous near misses, but I think that this junction is such that the traffic slows down to negotiate it. I cant say I have seen cases of vehicles using excess speed due to the layout. It looks a challenging junction, so you take your time.
Be interested if this view is shared by others.

Is this the Notorious S.D.R. we've been hearing about? The successor to the Notorious B.I.G.

I used to travel through there for 5 years on my scooter to work and back and never saw any accident, and many times before that in my car when petrol was affordable.

Yes you need your wits about you, and always need to keep looking to make sure something doesn't pull out in front of you, but generally it is ok.

It's an absolute nightmare of a junction. Hope the person is ok!

It's a roundabout! All the traffic is going the same direction. It's pretty basic stuff!

I have never had any problems negotiating Seven Dials. But it looks like yet another area to avoid when the "improvement" c0cks it all up.
I shall be planning another "rat run"; or maybe spend my money elsewhere.

Today Dyke Road North access i a single lane - same as it will be for ever from Septemebr thanks to foresight of planners. Get used to it.

In a similar vein go and look at the elm tree at the SDR (corner of Vernon Terrace), it is a great speciment of a lovely healthy protected tree, which will be cut down next week to widen the pavement. Spare a thought for a plant life that has been there longer than many of us have been alive.

You sound just like the sort of miserable whinger Brighton could do without Jim.

Cutting down the obstructive tree is about the only good thing in the plans. Everything else will lead to chaos and generally make the area more dangerous, with pedestrians being encouraged to wander like sheep across the roundabout, while the buses have to mount the kerbs and any single vehicle stopped at any point on the junction will cause the whole thing to lock up.

It is much different if you are a cyclist: Driving across it seems OK but Ive been knocked off twice there in the last 18 months on my bike, and no longer cycle round it.

Some motorists won't be happy even if they could get round as quick as a grand prix circuit and they often comment on here something needs to be done to slow these selfish dangerous people down.

Hope the rider gets better, but is this just the pre-runner for all the "safety" road works that the Council think they should put in shortly and f up your journey for god knows how long on top of around the station and bring Brighton to a standstill - Planning??? None.
