Two council leaders missed out on a top award.

Jason Kitcat,, of Brighton and Hove City Council, and Lewes District Council's James Page were nominated for the title of Leader of the Year at the 2013 Councillor Achievement Awards.

But neither won the title with the award going to Catherine West of Islington Council.

The Local Government Information Unit (LGIU), which organises the awards, said they had been nominated by the public and shortlisted from a record number of nominees.

Might the lack of award reflect the lack of achievement.

I am not surprised he didn't win, but I am surprised there are people mad enough to nominate him

If Mr Chocolate bar was nominated as one of the best the rest must be really bad. Beggars belief that that is possible.

.....do you mean the bus lane with the world's worst reinstatement and shocking line painting.
Did this really cost £6 million. It's a really poor job.
Take a look at the shocking line painting at Moulsecoomb and also the lack of signage means no one knows which lane they should be in.
It's bloody dangerous.

AWARDS ???? Thanks for increasing already stretched incomes, blame it on central Government - Too scared of the Unions that run BHCC are we? Kitcat et al wouldn't say boo to a goose on that front. Let's get to a real crunching question HAVE THEY SETTLED THE TOTAL BILL OF EQUAL PAY YET? BECAUSE THAT IS A STONKING BILL THEY ARE HIDING!! (Apologies for the caps) that has to be paid out, and they delaying it. Come on everyone, if the awards weren't disgusting enough, the management are.

Beggars belief!

Why would anyone in their right mind nominate / vote for these muppets.

The informed and intelligent among us are left with these incompetents wasting money on things designed to appeal to minority miscreant groups.

Beggars belief!

If the measure of success is whether as leader he's succeeded in streamlining the council, reducing council tax and improving necessary services whilst cutting out the waste and not spending vast amounts on vanity projects, he's failed on all counts

He might want to start by wearing a tie to show a bit of respect to the position he holds (in name only) and other colleagues.

Must have nominated themselves!

I can think of an appropriate award for which they are both eminently qualified to win hands down! Speaking of hands down . . . . oh better not . . .
