Sussex dad loses fight for kids

A dental nurse has won a legal fight with her estranged British husband about where their two children should live – despite her “abysmal” conduct.

A High Court judge agreed to the woman’s application to relocate the children to Australia, even though he described her treatment of their father – a sports masseur – as “selfish and autocratic”.

Mr Justice Mostyn concluded that it was in the children’s best interests to live in Australia, rather than Eastbourne, and said he had to “eschew any temptation” to punish the woman.

He gave details of the case in a written ruling after hearings in the Family Division of the High Court in London.

The woman took the children to Australia after the marriage ran into difficulties, but they were sent back to Britain under the terms of international law.

“This was an open and shut case of child abduction,” said the judge. “The mother's conduct was abysmal. It was an act of deliberate cruelty to her husband, the father of her children.”

But Mr Justice Mostyn said both parents had now agreed to live in Australia and share custody of the children.

"Mr Justice Mostyn concluded that it was in the children’s best interests to live in Australia"

In more ways than one.

So...The Headline should read:

Man and woman, who both live in Australia, share custody of their children.

Another "none article" from the Argus. Not even LOCAL!!!

Headline and story again do not match. Is this going to be a regular feature of the Argus?

Funny how sexism against men never draws many comments. wonder just how many forum posters are female.. (and how old?)

Women was selfish, cruel, deliberately to the father, guilty of CHILD ABDUCTION, denied father his already pathetically reduced RIGHTS, THEN she wants 2 'move' the poor kids to Australia, and what happens?

She wins!!!? Yes, poor women, you have no rights, men have it all (any one who believes that is deluded - and plenty of women do believe it)

There is a case in Australia (funnily enough) where almost the reverse happened... and the father responsible is publicly reviled and humiliated in the papers daily as a monster!!

One law for women, none for men. Women should have equal pay, etc. But ONLY if men have equal rights in the courts on divorce and child custody. And if not, then certain women need to stop being so blinkered and hypocritical about how "hard it is being a poor little woman with no rights in a man's world"

Cue usual rubbish ignoring points & resulting to tired clichéd insults. You will only be marking yourselves out as the kind of so-called feminist I describe. I dare you to argue the points logically, reasonably, and factually, not ignoring the parts you feel you can't 'win'.

You're not wrong about the many injustices relating to men in the courts, however your way of arguing a point is not going to win you any favors.

Being right doesn't mean you're not a ****.
