Brighton MP urges Rugby bosses to bring World Cup to the city

A politician is continuing to lobby to bring the Rugby World Cup to Sussex.

The Rugby Football Union is due to make a decision on host venues for the tournament in the coming weeks.

Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby met with representatives from the organisation to make the case for Brighton and Hove’s American Express Community Stadium to host matches during the global competition.

Mr Kirby said: “The Rugby World Cup is the third biggest sporting event in the world, and it would be fantastic for the city of Brighton and Hove if we were to host part of this monumental occasion in 2015.

“I am assured following my meeting that the RFU are |very aware of the strength of this application and it |is being very seriously considered.”
