Police are hunting a gunman who stole hundreds of pounds from a betting shop yesterday evening (February 27).
The suspect walked into the Ladbrokes, in Broadwalk, Crawley, at around 7.45pm.
He is claimed to have pulled a gun from a Co-op plastic bag before threatening a member of staff.
The man then made off in the direction of the Boulevard with several hundreds of pounds.
He is described as black, 6' of medium build and was wearing a black hat, hooded jacket, dark trousers and black scarf.
Detective Inspector Mark Cullimore, from West Sussex CID, said: "Fortunately the member of staff was not physically injured but nonetheless it was a frightening incident.
"Following the 999 call, officers, including a firearms unit, were immediately deployed to search the area but the suspect was not located.
"I would urge anyone with information that could help police with their enquiries to please come forward.”
Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 1387 of 27/2 or charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
