Firefighters forced to clean up blood after man badly cuts hand in Brighton

Paramedics and firefighters were called to a Brighton street after reports a man had injured himself.

Crews attended Vernon Terrace, near Seven Dials, at 1.45pm today because the man had sliced his hand.

A fire spokesman said the amount of blood on the pavement meant they had to clean it up safely.

A South East Coast Ambulance spokeswoman said a man in his 30s was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital suffering from a cut hand.

clearing up claret off a pavement is not a fire & rescue service job, but i expect dealing with a biological hazard is. still with all those nice highpower hoses we could get them to remove grafitti and chewing gum as well when they are not busy rescuing cars from being walked over by hoards of idiots who chase cats up trees in rottingdene, meanwhile the council could send a bill to the careless person who thoughtlessly disguarded the claret on the pavement, for the prompt cleanup service that was provided. still takes the attention away from ESF&R being sued in the highcourt. spilt claret is far for intresting news than claims for negligence.
