Passenger critical after car smashes into Chichester garden wall

A 46-year-old is in a critical condition after the car she was travelling in hit a garden wall this morning (March 4).

The woman, who was a front seat passenger in the car, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital following the crash in Bell Lane, Birdham, Chichester at around 9.15am.

A 20-year-old female driver and 23-year-old female rear seat passenger suffered minor injuries.

It is thought the blue Renault Clio may have hit the kerb while negotiating a bend before smashing head-on into a garden wall.

The A286 was closed for several hours whilst police and emergency services attended the collision.

It has since been reopened.

Sergeant Jim Stobart from West Sussex Road Policing Unit said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision and has not yet come forward to please do so. You can call 101 quoting Op Senate or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk.”

Huh!

You dont negotiate a bend when your driving!

You drive at the rite speed for the conditions of the road and the weather conditions at all times!

Or you give up driving.............
