A charity is stepping up its campaign to have more specialist nurses supporting people with Alzheimer’s in Sussex.

Dementia UK wants to boost the number of Admiral Nurses working in the county and is calling on people for their support.

The nurses, funded by the charity, provide much needed help for people with the condition and their relatives and carers.

The charity is aiming to have Admiral Nurses set up in parts of West Sussex later this year but does not have any working in Brighton and Hove or elsewhere in East Sussex.

Admiral Nurses are senior mental health nurses specialising in dementia, who support families from diagnosis to end of life care.

There are more than 24,400 residents across the county believed to have Alzheimer’s and this is due to rise to more than 33,700 over the next eight years.
