Billy Bragg set to headline Great Escape Festival
Legendary protest singer Billy Bragg has been revealed as the second headline act for this year’s Great Escape Festival.
The announcement comes as organisers announced a host of new bands for the May 16 to 18 line up.
Brighton- based The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster will join the likes of hip-hop artist Iggy Azalea, DJ Toddla T and four piece The Stypres.
55-year-old Bragg, who is known for his left-wing activism, will draw heavily from his first new album in five years at the Brighton Dome show on May 17.
He said: "With my new band and new sounding record, I feel as excited now as I did with my first album all those years ago.
"It’s brilliant to be invited to play at The Great Escape along- side such a great roster of acts.
"I’m really looking forward to coming back to the Brighton Dome too."
Four piece indie band Bastille are the other headliners.
They will play at the Dome on May 18. For the line-up, visit mama- colive.com/thegreatescape.
