Superheroes and villains were spotted doing their part for charity yesterday (March 10).

Batman, Wolverine and friends took a break from their day jobs to collect money for Comic Relief outside TK Maxx in North Street.

The impressive set of characters were from the Iconic Legion – a group of comic book and sci-fi enthusiasts who dress up for charity.

The authentic bunch raised nearly £600 through collection boxes and the sale of Comic Relief T-Shirts.

A spokesman said: “Our guys loved it and the public did too. We raised nearly £600 today which goes towards our total of around £5,000. Thanks to everyone for their donations.”

someone should have told them it's illegal to shake the collection buckets.

Actually, the shaking of collection tins is not illegal - this is a very common misconception. Plus, a permit for collection had been granted on this event - and the people of Brighton were incredibly generous as a result!
