Sussex's police and crime commissioner Katy Bourne has signed up to a youth charter.

It sets out good youth engagement for people in her role, as drawn up by young people.

She said: “By signing the Youth Charter I have pledged to consider young people’s views when making key decisions and including them in this process.

“My policies will have a major impact on young people – whether that’s through their experience of the police or how safe they feel in their community.

“Young people are the age group more likely to be victims of crime and to become involved in criminal activity.

“I am committed to engaging effectively with young people and to reducing the number of young people committing crime.”

So ... now we know she can do publicity. Well, it is something I suppose. Not sure it is worth £80,000+ a year but there you go

Why do these people need to boast about another piece of paper with grand words? What about making key decisions as a matter of routine that take everybody into account? What about police on the streets where we can see them?

Not necessarily grand words just words that speak much while saying little ;-)

Power drunk and crazy already, after how many days in office? "MY policies" - really? Someone needs to remind her that her job is NOT to represent her personal views, but should be to reflect those of the community generally (even though she only attracted about 5% of the vote). She is a public servant whose (ridiculously high) salary comes from the public purse.

She is a Conservative (public) servant.
