Thousands flock to website for latest news on snow Thousands flock to website for latest news on snow

The Argus prides itself on providing the best possible coverage both online and in print.

That is why there were nearly 47,000 views of our live blog yesterday (March 11).

The blog features all the latest news you need as the snow continues to fall on Sussex.

We have updates on school closures, traffic chaos and which bus routes are running.

The blog also gives you the latest on hospitals, ambulance services and the police.

Plus we have lots of images and videos so you can see exactly what it is like outside.

And if you want to bunker down and watch it all happen on social media, our Twitter feed means you can see what the world is saying about the snow without getting cold.

You can find it all on our dedicated snow page.

It doesn't seem to pride itself too much on basic English and grammar though, as ably demonstrated on a regular basis. Oh well, the hamsters running the Schmargus servers can only do so much.

'Bunker down????'

From Urban Dictionary:

bunker down
A term morons use, particularly when bad weather is afoot, to which they confuse the meaning of "hunker" with. Bunker is a noun, yet hunker is a verb, thus while the words sound similar, when thought of in their linguistic context, one is blatantly wrong.

Now that dear old Kenny Ball has passed away it's up to the Argus to start blowing its own trumpet.

Is there a word for the journalistic technique of inviting a torrent of derision down on your publication with your very first sentence?!

47,000 views equates to less than 3% of the population of Sussex having one look each.

Love reading The Argus - always good for a laugh - especially the comments and the over dramatisation of events. My favourite is still the 'blaze' in an ashtray.

However, a lot of the journos don't seem to be able to spell anymore. Or know where the M3 is! I also wish they'd stop deleting comments because of pressure from political parties. Know what I mean, Katy Bourne?
