Clean up call for Benfield Valley
6:20pm Tuesday 12th March 2013 in News
Councillor Brian Fitch wants a spring clean for Benfield Valley
A historic area of countryside is in need of a spring clean, according to campaigners.
The Benfield Valley is an important part of Hove having some of the area’s earliest buildings, including Hangleton Manor.
But ward councillor Brian Fitch claims the Benfield Way path, which runs behind Hangleton Lane and Sainsbury’s in Old Shoreham Road, is full of litter.
He said some of the boards which describe the heritage of the area to visitors have been covered in graffiti.
To spruce up the area, which is popular with wildlife and walkers, Coun Fitch has written to Brighton and Hove City Council’s chief executive Penny Thompson asking for a spring clean.

Brian Finch and his Labour party should concentrate on their betrayal of the Brighton and Hove electorate by voting FOR a council tax increase rather than pathetic publicity stunts like this. Who does he think he is - Warren Morgan or Jason Kitcat or Geoffrey Theobald ?

There is too much excess packaging and that makes things worse.

As a local resident AND a floating voter I've walked this path in the last four weeks and there is nothing wrong with it ( excluding the mud from the rain, which I blame on nobody except mother nature ! ).

I can't say it surprises me you're disappointed with the Greens. Since you missed a giant, lake-sized muddy 'puddle' on your walk that's been there for weeks. Presumably you were able to float over it.
